As per the provisional customs data, India’s total flat steel imports under HS code 7208, 7209, and 7225 have registered a fall of 9.56% in first half of 2016 against corresponding period of 2015.
HS code 7208 covers HR Coils and plates, 7209 covers CRC and 7225 cover Electrical sheets.
India’ HR/Plates imports (under HS code 7208) have registered a fall of 14% at 1.53 MnT in H1 2016 against 1.79 MnT in H1 2015.
While country’s CRC imports have increased by 30% in first half of current year against previous year and is recorded at 0.65 MnT in H1 2016 and 0.50 MnT in H1 2015.
Country’s imports of electrical sheets under HS code 7225 have fallen by 21% and is recorded at 0.75 MnT in H1 2016 and at 0.95 MnT in H1 2015.
Flat Imports Increase M-o-M
India’s HR/plates imports have increased by 33% in Jun’16 and stand at 0.24 MnT against 0.18 MnT in May’16.
Similarly, India’s Electrical sheets imports under HS code 7225 stood at 0.09 tonnes in Jun’16 against 0.07 MnT in May’16.
Country’s CRC imports under HS code (7209) decreased by 0.04 MnT in May’16 to 0.03 MNT in Jun’16.
