India’s crude steel production rises by 16% to 120.10 mnt in FY’22 – JPC

Indian mills produced 120.107 million tonnes (mnt) of crude steel in FY’22, an increase of 16% compared to 103.545 mnt in FY’21, as per provisional data released by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) under the Ministry of Steel. In Mar’22, production stood at 11.046 mnt, up 10% m-o-m and 5% y-o-y. Additional capacities along with increased domestic consumption and higher exports during the year resulted in the rise in production.
