Indian steel producers churned out 9.617 mn t of crude steel in Aug’21, down 2% compared to 9.848 mn t a month ago, as per provisional data released by the government’s Joint Plant Committee (JPC) today. Build-up of inventories at mills with sluggish demand in the domestic and overseas markets resulted in a slight drop in production, SteelMint notes.
