India stands 3rd in world’s crude steel output after China and Japan with production 97.4 MnT in FY17. The New Steel Policy announced by Indian government, aspires to achieve 300 MnT of steel making capacity by 2030.
According to provisional data released by Joint Plant Committee (Govt. of India) country’s crude steel output has moved up by 6% Y-o-Y from 7.69 MnT in Apr’16 to 8.11 MnT in Apr’17.
However on monthly basis nation’s crude steel output has fallen by 2% from 8.27 MnT in Mar’17.
India’s total finished steel consumption declined 22% M-o-M in Apr’17 – India’s consumption of total finished steel fell to 6.02 MnT in Apr’17 compared to 7.9 MnT in Mar’17. However on yearly premises, consumption has gone up by 3.4%.
