India’s crude steel production has recorded a marginal fall of 1.2% in Sep’16 to 8.04 MnT as compared to 8.14 MnT in Aug’16.
Notably, if Y-o-Y analysis is done then nation’s crude steel is progressing and has recorded the surge of 11% against 7.26 MnT in Sep’15.
The country’s totalled crude steel production during first nine months (Jan-Sep’16) is 70.96 MnT, up by 4.5% against the 67.88 MnT in corresponding time period of previous year.
Although,in 2015 India has surpassed USA by becoming the third largest steel producing nation in the world. Despite the growth in crude steel output, India’s rank in world top steel producing nations will remain same and is unlikely to change this year.
However,on account of various trade restrictions such as safeguard duty, anti-dumping duty, imposed by Indian government on steel imports, the domestic players are motivated to increase their market share in the country’s domestic steel market.
