India’s Coking Coal imports decline by 35% W-o-W

During the week ended on 5 Apr 2014, total Cocking Coal imports in India declined by 35% regarding previous week.

At the end of week 14, India has imported around 0.82 MnT Coking Coal. India’s total weekly import comprises 19% Coking Coal, comes from different destination. Total imported quantity has decreased from 1.3 MnT of preceding week assessed by SteelMint.

India has imported total quantity from Australia & South Africa, the major suppliers of Coking Coal. Out of the weekly imports, India imported around 0.74 MnT from Australia and registered a jump of 31% against the prior week. About 0.08 MnT imported from South Africa at Mormugao port belongs to JSW Steel.

Coking Coal

As per the consideration of 33 major & minor Indian ports, Mormugao has imported highest quantity i.e. around 0.23 MnT of Coal. Whole quantity belongs to JSW Steel. The second highest quantity port was Paradip, imported around 0.17 MnT, belongs to Bhushan Steel, NINL & Usha Martin.

JSW Steel & RINL are the major importers of Coking Coal at the end of week 14 and imported around 0.23 MnT & 0.15 MnT respectively. SAIL has imported around 0.14 MnT Coal from Australia at Vizag & Haldia port.

The ports considered are: Dahej, Mormugao, Navlakhi, Mundra, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Hazira, Kandla, Bedi, Porbander, Dahanu, Dharmatar PnP, Dharamtar Ispat, Tuticorin, Jaigarh, Dighi, Revdanda, Magdalla, Pipavav GPPL, UTCL- Pipavav, Sanghi, Sikka, Okha, Muldwarka, Dhamra, Ennore, Gangavaram, Haldia, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, Vizag & Karaikal.
