India’s coal production rises 8% y-o-y in Aug’22

India’s coal production increased by 8% y-o-y to 58.33 mnt in Aug’22 compared to 53.88 mnt in Aug’21. However, production was down 3% m-o-m from 60.42 mnt in Jul’22. Output from Coal India (at 46.22 mnt) and a mixed bag of captive and merchant miners (at 8.02 mnt) was up y-o-y while that from Singareni Collieries Company fell 17% y-o-y (to 4.1 mnt) in Aug.
