India’s coal production increased by 16% y-o-y to 607.97 mnt in Apr-Dec’22 as against 522.34 mnt in the year-ago period. Of this, production by Coal India jumped 16% to 479.05 mnt. Besides, higher utilisation of allocated blocks yielded output of 81.7 mnt from captive and commercial miners at an impressive rate of 31%. The remaining output of 47.22 mnt came from Singareni Collieries (SCCL).
