India’s coal imports from Russia likely to rise nearly 70% on month in June

India’s coal imports from Russia are expected to rise by 67% m-o-m to 1.5 mnt in May’22 – the highest so far this year – on steep global coal prices, CoalMint data (assessed during 1-19 June) show. Thermal coal imports are likely to double to 0.7mnt, while coking coal and anthracite imports are anticipated to rise by over 500% m-o-m to 0.2 mnt and 0.3 mnt, respectively. PCI imports may decline to 297,938 t, down 37% on month.
