India’s coal imports from Russia fall 20% in April with nil thermal coal imports

Russian coal imports into India in April stood at 0.85 mnt (down 20% m-o-m) amid sanctions imposed (on Russia) by various countries. Indian buyers completely avoided booking Russian thermal coal while PCI coal imports recorded a fall of 47% in April. Only anthracite imports rose by 75% m-o-m to 0.15 mnt while coking coal imports remained almost stable at 0.3 mnt. JSW Steel and AM/NS India remained the top buyers of Russian coal.
