India:Primary Re-bar players decline prices by INR 500-1,000/MT for Sep’14

Some of the primary producers have declined Re-bar prices this month by INR 500-1000/MT as compared to previous month.

According to SAIL’s official, SAIL has declined its Re-bar prices by INR 500-1000/MT and JSW Steel by INR 500/MT in the current month. Similarly, other big players like RINL have also reduced their prices by INR 250-750/MT, in various finish long product. However, officials from Tata Steel confirmed that they had reduced prices by INR 1,000/MT in Re-bar.

Secondary Steel Markets

Prices are steady in major secondary steel markets. In South region, the market is stable for semi-finished and finished products from the starting of the month owing to slow down in construction activity. Same situation persist in other parts of the region like Central & East.

Re-bar Import from China

Re-bar imports from China will continue to rise in the coming months.

According to sources, around 7,500MT of Re-bar from China is expected to arrive in Mumbai in the next few days.
