-Indian flat steel imports fell 15% M-o-M to 492,554 MT in August. Imports of HRC/Plates fell by 29% however CRC imports increased by 88%. Galvanized steel and coated imports fell by 14%. Major exporting nations like Japan ,South Korea and China are focusing on domestic sales over exports amid strong demand in their domestic market thus having limited allocations for export.This results to fall in imported volumes of steel to India.
– Indian finish long steel imports declined by 41% M-o-M to 31,087 MT in Aug’18. Rebar imports fell by 40% and wire rod by 18%
– India imported 1,797,619 MT Manganese ore during Jan-Aug’18, down 5% Y-o-Y. Falling imports can be attributed to rising imported ore price due to hike in Manganese alloys prices in China on the backdrop of the production cut.
