Sponge iron production which had hit hard last year on unavailability and expensive iron ore, expected to be posting better production figures this fiscal year reported Industry experts.
“Total Indian sponge iron (DRI) installed capacity is around 35 million tonnes, last fiscal we had produced around 21 million on issues like stricter norms by government to check illegal mining and expensive iron ore. This year it will be better on improved supply and low prices of iron ore in domestic and international market.” said an industry expert who was not willing to be named.
