India is the world’s largest DRI (sponge iron) producer and produced about 38 mn t in FY’20.
The plants based in central & eastern regions are the major suppliers in the Indian spot market. They are also involved in exports to the neighboring nations.
Annual DRI export from India is merely 0.9 mn t, which is majorly to Bangladesh, Nepal & Bhutan.
