In CY 16 till November, Indian DRI export increased by around 72% & Billet by 85% compare with same in CY 15.
Out of total exports of both products like DRI & Billet, Bangladesh procured around 44% (Billet) & 95% (DRI) material in CY 2015 and in CY 2016, 56% (Billet) & 96% (DRI). Less voyage time & competitive prices (compared to global scrap & billet prices) are the major reasons behind high exports to Bangladesh.
Till Nov’16, Indian DRI export in CY 16 was recorded at 211,080 MT against 122,730 MT in CY15 and Billet was recorded in CY 16 at 923,040 MT against 499,450 MT in CY15.
Current offers, for Indian DRI (80 FeM, CDRI Lumps) are prevailing at USD 225-235/MT ex-works, West Bengal/Odisha & USD 240/MT FOB Benapole port (Bangladesh). Whereas imported scrap (HMS 80:20) offers are at USD 265-275/MT CNF India & USD 285-290/MT CNF Bangladesh.
Presently, Indian Billet export offers are hovering at USD 405-420/MT FOB India & USD 420-435/MT CNF Bangladesh. While, Chinese export offers are at USD 420-425/MT, FOB China port.
