An Indian Rice Exporters Federation member has secured a 5,000-t basmati deal with a buyer in the US. This is the largest deal to emerge following the US tariff reduction (to 18% from 25%) and reflects improved trade sentiment between the two countries. Sources added that the US typically does not procure such large volumes in a single shipment, making the deal notable.
