Rebar prices in the secondary market have fallen marginally in a week’s time, except in south India.
Indian rebar prices in the secondary market have fallen slightly by INR 100-300/MT in major markets. However, prices remained firm in south India.
Rebar trade activities seem to be moderate in central India for MP and Maharashtra. Currently, few small/ medium size rebar manufacturers in Raipur are offering 12 mm in the range of INR 24,000-24,200/MT (basic price) and few premium/large size manufacturers are offering the same material at INR 25,200-26,000/MT.
A well-known rebar manufacturer in Raipur said, “Our plant has been facing power shortage of about 4 hrs since last 10 days, which has somehow created shortage of material. This in turn hold the offers in the market”.
He also added that price are likely to remain steady in the current week.
Other major rebar markets in west India like Jalna and Mumbai have reported dull buying for the last 1 week.
Primary rebar producers have been also reduced offers by INR 1,500/MT since the starting of Jun’16, which has also impacted the secondary market.
