Indian railways withdraws coal freight concession

Indian Railways has decided to discontinue with the discount offered on long distance coal transportation. As per policy guidelines, a concession of 20% was sanctioned on rail freight for transporting coal and coke to distances beyond 1,400 km. This was kept in place for around two years in consideration of the pandemic backdrop, which has now been removed.
