In the latest attempt to meet elevated power demand during summer, the Indian Railways has decided to supply 445 rakes per day to power plants, which will include 30 rakes of imported material. The national transporter has said that rake availability for the power sector has increased to 472 per day in May’22. The Railways plans to mobilise an additional 100 rakes in the current fiscal to further improve coal movement.
