The vessel-line-up data (as on 2 Jul’21) maintained with CoalMint reveals that a total volume of 8.9 million tonnes (mn t) of thermal coal is slated to arrive at Indian ports between 18 Jun’21-18 Jul’21 from various origins.
Dhamra Port overtook Krishnapatnam Port this week to become the highest receiver of thermal coal, at 1.07 mn t, with 0.66 mn t coming in from Australia and 0.40 mn t from South Africa.
Adani Enterprise has the highest shipment volume of 0.67 mn t, with 0.33 mn t coming from South Africa, 0.15 mn t from Indonesia, 0.10 mn t from the US, and 93,200 t from Australia. This is followed by Adani Power with 0.40 mn t coming in from Indonesia, and 0.16 mn t from Australia.
Following Dhamra, Hazira Port is set to receive the second-highest volume of 1.05 mn t of thermal coal with the maximum quantity (0.50 mn t) arriving from Indonesia, followed by (0.26 mn t) South Africa, and (0.11 mn t) Australia.
Paradip Port is the next highest receiver of thermal coal at 0.76 mn t with 0.30 mn t arriving from Australia, 70,000 t from South Africa, and 40,000 t from Indonesia.
Highest quantity arriving from Indonesia
Out of the total volume of thermal coal arriving from various countries, the highest is coming from Indonesia at 1.21 mn t followed by South Africa at 0.91 mn t.

In case of vessels arriving from Indonesia, the highest volume is coming for Adani Power at 0.4 mn t followed by Adani Enterprise at 0.15 mn t, and Swiss Singapore at 82,000 t.
- As for South African coal, Adani Enterprise has booked the highest volume of 0.33 mn t, arriving at Gangavaram and Dhamra ports. This is followed by Rashmi Group’s vessel of 0.17 mn t coming in at Dhamra Port. At Vizag Port, 0.16 mn t of South African coal will come for IMR Metallurgical Resources.
- For vessels arriving from Australia, the highest volume has been booked by Adani Power at 0.16 mn t followed by Semb Corp Gayathri Power at 0.14 mn t.
Adani Enterprise tops buyers’ list for fifth week
Adani Enterprise topped the list of buyers, with 0.33 mn t of thermal coal expected to arrive at Indian ports from South Africa, 0.15 mn t from Indonesia, 0.10 mn t from the US, and 93,000 t, from Australia.
This is followed by Adani Power with 0.40 mn t arriving from Indonesia, and 0.16 mn t from Australia.
Ultratech Cement is the third largest receiver with0.25 mn t.
