Indian ports to receive 0.77 mn t of South African thermal coal in next 10 days

Higher freight rates since mid-Feb’21 have deterred Indian buyers from making import bookings of South African thermal coal. CoalMint’s vessel line-up data reveals arrival of 0.77 mn t of South African coal at Indian ports between 19 May and 1 Jun’21. A maximum quantity of 0.31 mn t is expected to arrive at Krishnapatnam port. The top buyer is JSW Energy which has booked material scheduled to arrive at Krishnapatnam and Mangalore ports.
