“Raipur Steel Grade Pig Iron is being offered at Rs 28,200/MT
(Basic price), Rs 200/MT more than previous trade on rising Steel prices and Sponge
Iron prices,” remarked a trader from the city.
“Steel Grade Pig Iron
in Jharsuguda is trading at Rs 26,000/MT (Basic price). The demand for Pig Iron
has increased which was otherwise weak in the third quarter of last year and
production levels are decent from different plants. We expect prices to be range
bound further.
Pig Iron production has improved on better supply of raw
material Iron Ore and it will be supported by higher Scrap prices and rising Sponge Iron prices,” said a dealer from Jharsuguda.

Durgapur is quite low and we predict that it will take around 10-15 days more for
production levels to pick up.
Durgapur Steel Grade Pig Iron is being quoted at Rs 27,500/MT
(Basic price) with Rs 500/MT more than previous trade whereas Foundry Grade Pig
Iron is not available in Durgapur due to low production,” said a Durgapur based
trader.
