Indian Pig Iron prices remain constant on high scrap prices 

Indian Pig Iron price does not witness major fluctuation.

Pig Iron demand in Raipur, Jharsuguda and Cuttack is average. Price remains unchanged today. 

“Scrap in International market is expensive and there is no material available from some big plants,” a trader in Jharsuguda said.

“Durgapur trades for Steel Grade Pig Iron is few at Rs 27,200/MT (Basic price). Offers are anticipated to rise and markets might be clear around the mid of this month. But Foundry Grade material is not available,” a trader remarked.

“Giridih Pig Iron prices remain same at Rs 26,500/MT for Steel Grade and Rs 27,700/MT for Foundry Grade (Both are Basic price). Demand is poor from around last 10 days. After summer season ends, we anticipate prices to increase in the range of Rs 500-1,000/MT as the mines and logistics (raw materials) will face issues,” reported a manufacturer.

In Vizag, Pig Iron (Steel Grade) trades at Rs 25,700/MT, with an increase of Rs 700/MT. 

'Delhi has not seen any improvement in its Pig Iron demand and prices and there is shortage of labor,” said sources.

Demand has not picked up in most of the Mandis'.
