Indian bulk Pig iron exports rose in January 2017 owing to improved demand from global buyers. India exported 51,500 MT Pig iron in the month of Jan’17 against 49,790 MT in Dec’16.
Pig iron exports in the month of Jan’17 have witnessed an increase of 10% M-o-M and 63% Y-o-Y.
Two shipments were recorded in January, both of which have been made to Thailand. One shipment was owned by MMTC and osther by Vedanta Limited, which were concluded at USD 298/MT, FoB India and around USD 300-310/MT, FoB India respectively.
MMTC-turned out to the largest Pig iron exporter in FY17. The company had exported around 97,240 MT Pig iron till Jan’17 in FY17. Vedanta Limited- the second largest Pig iron exporter has exported 61,000 MT Pig iron during the same time frame.
In Jan’17, MMTC has exported 31,500 MT Pig iron and Vedanta has exported 20,000 MT Pig iron.
