Total Pig iron export recorded in 2015 was 420,500 MT.
Slowdown in steel sector all across the globe for 2015 and competitive offers for steel from China had hit global Pig iron market to a great extend. As a result, Indian Pig iron export in 2015 recorded a fall of 42% to 420,500 MT against 741,000 MT in last year.
MMTC remained the largest exporter by exporting 242,000 MT Pig iron. Whereas, Thailand remained the most favored destination by Indian exporter with highest export of 246,000 MT.
Pig iron offers in 2015
Global Pig iron market witnessed a sharp fall in offers. Indian export offers, which were in the range of USD 320-330/MT during Jan’15, fell to around USD 180-190/MT, FoB India in Dec’15; recording a fall of USD 140-150/MT within a year.
