Pellet movement through railway has fallen by 75% in Jan’15 as compared to Dec’14 owing to falling Iron ore prices and low buying interest from Sponge manufacturers. Total 17 rakes of Pellet were supplied against 69 rakes in Dec’14.
According to data compiled, it is observed that Tata Steel has loaded only 6 rakes (BRPL) of Pellets in Jan’15 as compared to 43 rakes (BRPL- 21 and JSPL- 15 rakes) in Dec’14 after Odisha and Jharkhand government permitted Tata Steel to operate its Iron ore mines.
It is also noticeable that JSPL’s Pellet movement has nil in Jan’15 against 23 rakes been supplied in Dec’14. Each rake carries approx 3,850 MT.
