Indian Non-coking Coal imports surges to 27% during Week 7

India’s total Non-coking Coal imports increased to 27% during week 7 which ended on 15 Feb, 2014.

SteelMint assessed that India has imported around 2.7 MnT of Non-coking Coal at the end of week 7, which has increased from 2.2 MnT of preceding week. Out of the total imported Coal, around 80% was Non-coking Coal comes from different destination.

India has imported around 2.5 MnT Non-coking Coal from Indonesia in the period of week 7 and registered a jump of 27% against the prior week.

Most of the Non-coking Coal is imported from Indonesia & South Africa. Out of the total weekly imports, India has imported around 0.18 MnT of Non-coking Coal from South Africa which belongs to leading Indian Coal traders like Adani Enterprises and Agarwal Coal. About 40,000 MT of Non-coking Coal imported from Australia which imported by Bhatia International.

Week 7

Considering 33 major and minor Indian ports, Mundra has imported maximum quantity i.e. around 0.8 MnT of Coal. Contribution of quantity was given by Coastal Gujarat Power & Adani Power. Krishnapatnam is the second highest port imported around 0.3 MnT of Non-coking Coal belongs to many parties like Bhatia International, Coastal Energy, MBG Commodities, JSW Steels and Meenakshi Energy.

SteelMint assessed that Adani Power & Coastal Gujarat Power are the major importers of Non-coking Coal at the week ended on 15 Feb, 2014. Adani Power has imported around 0.5 MnT Coal and Coastal Gujarat Power has imported about 0.3 MnT Non-coking Coal from Indonesia.
