Mundra Port in west coast of India received the highest quantity of non-coking coal among all major ports. Indonesian coal dominated the imports.
According to SteelMint’s latest stats, India, one of the significant participants of coal import in global market, has imported about 16.7 MnT of non-coking coal in second month of FY’16, registering a growth of about 6% against previous month. Non-coking coal constituted about 79% of the total coal imports. India imported about 21.2 MnT of coal in May’15.

Major Discharging Ports
Mundra received about 2.4 MnT of imported non-coking coal in May’15. Although Mundra received the highest quantity of non-coking coal imports among all major Indian ports in May’15, the quantity is less than that it received in Apr’15.

Leading Exporters of Non-Coking Coal in May’15
Indonesia was the leading exporter of non-coking coal in May’15. It exported about 12 MnT of non-coking coal to India. South Africa exported about 3.18 MnT of non-coking coal to India in May’15 against 2.16 MnT in Apr’15 registering a growth in export by 47%.
