Indian mills to benefit as EU redistributes steel imports quotas of Russia, Belarus

After announcing a ban on steel imports from Russia, the European Commission has proportionally redistributed steel imports quotas of Russia and Belarus in each product category among other exporting countries. These are subject to the safeguard measure based on the most recent data available, namely their share of overall imports in CY’21. India’s HRC Apr-Jun’22 quota has increased to 273,178 t from around 167,000 t previously.
