Indian Mill Concludes 20,000 MT Billet Export Tender

An Indian govt owned steelmaker has concluded export tender for 20,000 MT billet. According to authentic sources report to SteelMint, the company has concluded the tender at USD 370-375/MT, on FoB basis.

The tender floated was for billet 4SP/5SP  grade and 150*150mm size. The cargo is likely to ship to Thailand from Haldia port, and the shipment is scheduled for mid-Jul ’20. The tender fetched a slightly lower price than the current Indian export price levels. This was due to the shipping port i.e. Haldia Port which incurs a slight increase in port charges, SteelMint learned from market sources.

SteelMint assessment for billet (150*150mm) export offers from India is at USD 375-380/MT, FoB India.

The SE Asian region is gradually turning active in terms of billet imports and has been observed booking sizeable billet cargos for the past couple of weeks even on increased import offers. The region was noticed to booked cargoes from Iran, CIS, and now from India.

SteelMint assessment for billet import offers in SE Asia was assessed last week at USD 380-390/MT, CFR.
