Indian Manufacturers Raise Domestic Plates Prices

As announced by Indian manufacturers of price rise in case of flat products, domestic plates prices have also registered an increase of INR 500-750/MT.

Current offers for commercial grade (base size 16-20mm) plates are assessed at INR 32,500/MT,(ex- works excluding excise of 12.5%). While plates in Mumbai and Delhi are being traded at in the range of INR 39,000-39,500/MT (including excise of 12.5%).

As far as demand is concerned, domestic demand for flat products have improved post monsoon. Also, because of imposition of anti-dumping duty on plates import, Indian manufacturers have got enough scope to increase their flat products prices. The effective increase in domestic plates prices since Aug’16 is about INR 5,500-6,000/MT.

Global Plates offers

Indian plates offers in the global market are being assessed at USD 405-410/MT, FoB India basis. India’s total plates exports in current financial year 2016-17 from (Apr to Aug’16) stands at 1.17MnT, down by 39% against corresponding period of previous financial year 2015-16.

Plates offers from China are being heard at USD 360-370/MT,FoB China,whereas offers from CIS countries are assessed at USD 380-385/MT, FoB Black Sea.
