Indian Manganese Ore Import at 0.17 MnT in Jan’17

India imported around 0.17 MnT of Manganese Ore in Jan’17 against 0.11 MnT in Dec’16. There has been substantial increase of around 60% M-o-M in imports of Manganese Ore in India in Jan’17.

South Africa remains the largest exporter of Manganese Ore to India, contributing 0.13 MnT in Jan’17 against 0.06 MnT in Dec’16, representing a massive increase of around 131%. Australia and Gabon also exported Manganese Ore to India. However, there has been a fall in imports from Australia and Gabon in Jan’17 on M-o-M basis by 26% and 46% respectively. Indian Mn Ore Imports SteelMint assessed that the Indian producers were concerned about rising Manganese Ore prices and booked large quantities in fear of prices surging further in the near future. Moreover, China’s desire for Manganese Ore procurement was non-existent for Jan’17 on account on Chinese Lunar Year holidays. Largest Quantity Procured by Shri Girija Alloys & Power Pvt. Ltd

Shri Girija Alloys & Power Pvt. Ltd has been registered as the largest importer in Jan’17 with an import quantity of around 23,959 MT followed by Hira Power & Steels Ltd and Sarda Metals & Alloys Ltd.
