Indian Iron Ore exports to China will be around 20 million tonnes in 2012-13

India’s Iron ore exports to China will settle around 20 million tonnes (mt) in FY 2013, owing to multiple problems, such as shortages in Karnataka,Odisha and Goa, high export duty and differential railway freight, according to study conducted by SteelMint.

In 2011-12, Indian Iron ore exports witnessed a y-o-y decline of 38.5% to about 60 mt. According to data available with Chinese customs, total imports 

of Iron ore from India stands at around 19.5 mt till January 2013. 

India has also been replaced by South Africa as the 3rd largest exporter of Iron ore to China.
