India’s total import of bar and rod, and wire in alloy and non alloy steel crossed 1.5 MnT since Jan’15.
As per the data available with SteelMint, Indian import of bar & rod and wire surged sharply by 38% in Oct’15 as compared to Sept’15 and stood at 2,43,552 MT.
Out of the total import, around 75% of the quantity was imported from China. At present, the country is quite active in selling material overseas, including India, at very competitive offers.
Since Jan’15, Import of bar and rod and wire crossed the figure of 1.5 MnT. Out of total import, 40% consists of bar and rod and remaining 60% is wire.
On 13 Oct’15, a Chinese steel maker named as Hebei Jinxi Iron and Steel Group received BIS certification from Indian government for the export of long products. Prior to this, two more chinese steel makers named Rizhao Steel Wire and Jinangyin Xicheng Steel received BIS certification on 10 Aug’15.
Currently, China FoB rebar offers are at USD 260/MT for Dec’15 shipments for 16-25 mm chromium added material. 6.5 mm mesh quality wire rod is being offered at USD 271/MT, FoB China main port.
