Indian government imposes a provisional anti dumping duty for six months on wire rods coming from China.
Investigations were initiated on imports of wire rods from China in June 2016. SAIL, RINL, Usha Martin and JSW had filed a case for wire rod anti-dumping duty.
The Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD), which operates under the ministry of commerce and industry, on 27 September 2016 had recommended an anti-dumping duty of up to $538/MT on imports of Wire rods of Alloy and Non Alloy Steel coming under HS code 7213 and 7227.
India total import under 7213 and 7227 from April’15 till Sep’16 ( 18 months) were
Qty 10,72,500 MT.
Notification also says duty will be applicable on HS 7213 and 7227 that describes bars and rods, hot rolled, in irregularly wound coils, of iron or non-alloy steel or alloy steel, excluding below items,-
a. Bars and rods containing indentations, ribs, grooves or other deformations produced during the rolling process falling under tariff item 72131090 (commonly known as rebars or TMT bars);
b. Bars and rods of stainless steel falling under tariff heading 7221; and
c. Bars and rods of high speed steel falling under tariff heading 72271000
