Indian Govt Extends Anti Dumping Duty on DI Pipe Imports from China

Anti-dumping duty on imports of Ductile Iron (DI) pipes further extended till 9th Oct’19, as per recent notification by Indian government.

The Indian Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties under the Ministry Of Industry and Commerce has extended anti dumping duty on imports of Ductile Iron Pipes from China PR, falling under tariff of 73030030 & 73030090.

In the last notification, the government has notified to continue it for coming 45 days starting from 9th May’19 to 23rd Jun’19.

The Pipe exported by China PR has injured Indian steel industry, there for anti-dumping duties should be extended to rescue industries. To extend this duty, the application was filed by Jindal Saw Ltd & the Hon’ble High Court of Gujarat in the matter ordered:-

“At this stage, it is required to be noted that as per the provisions of the Section 9A(5), the extendable period of anti-dumping duty is 09.10.2019. In that view of the matter, the respondent no. 2 shall complete the process of rendering final findings latest by 15.09.2019 and the respondent no. 1 shall extend the anti-dumping duty by suitable period in accordance with the provisions of Section 9A and the Rules so as to prevent the entire exercise becoming infructuous.”
