Indian Government began the procedure for allocating Coal blocks to non power sector for the first time. It invites applications for the allocated blocks through competitive bidding for specified end users.
The Ministry of Coal has offered three Coal blocks for the auction which are as follows:
1. Jhirki & Jhirki (West) of East Bokaro Coalfield, Jharkhand having Geological Reserves of around 267.91 MnT Coking Coal for Steel (Blast Furnace).
2. Andal Babuisol of Raniganj Coalfield, West Bengal having Geological Reserves of around 103.8 MnT for Sponge Iron.
3. Tokisud-II of South Karanpura Coalfield, Jharkhand having Geological Reserves of around 127.7 MnT for Cement.
The bidders are required to bid above the prescribed floor price. The detailed documents including RFP, copy of the Geological Report etc are available for sale at Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL) Office, Ranchi.
