Finish long (Bar & rods and Structures) steel production in India has come down by 4% M-o-M in Sep’18, as per recent data released by Joint Plant Committee (JPC).
India’s finish long (Bar & rods and Structures) steel production by both large and medium/small scale producers stood at 3.8 MnT in Sep’18 as against 3.98 MnT during Aug’18. Hence, the production has lessened by 4.52% M-o-M.
On the contrary Y-o-Y, Sep’18 figures slightly improved by around 1% as compared to 3.78 MnT in Sep’17.
On monthly comparison in Sep’18, Finish long production by the large scale makers i:e; SAIL registered around 0.32 MnT (-11.12%) followed by RINL 0.34 MnT (0%), Tata Steel 0.26 MnT (-3.7%), JSW 0.23 MnT (-11.53%) and JSPL 0.14 MnT (+27.27%).
Further, the major contribution registered by medium scale producers at 2.51 MnT, shrunk by 4.92% against 2.64 MnT in Aug’18.
It seems that limited domestic & export inquiries among the manufacturers led to measured production of long steels amid high inventory levels in specified regions.
