India – world’s one of the largest steel producer has registered fall in its Finish long steel exports in Q3 CY18 against the same period of CY17.
The Indian exports have narrowed down in line with competitive offers from West & East Asian countries along with limited export deals to neighbouring countries due to lean season for constructions.
As per the customs, the nation has exported about 257,590 MT Finish Long steel in Q3 CY18, down by 33.88% against 389,636 MT in Q3 CY17.
Similarly, on yearly comparison the Finish long steel exports was drifted down by around 74% to 60,546 MT in Sep’18 as compared to 232,963 MT in Sep’17, meanwhile on monthly premises it has been registered at 60,546 MT in Sep’18, down by 47% against 114,135 MT in Aug’18.
However on quarter to quarter basis it has been improved in Q3’18 and registered commodity wise as Bar’s & Rod at 137,804 MT, up by 131% against 59,579 MT in Q2’18, Wire Rod at 69,714 MT in Q3’18 up by around 1% against 69,371 MT in Q2’18 and last but not least Structure at 50,070 MT in Q3’18 up by 59% against 31,534 MT in Q2’18.
Under Finish Long commodities following HS Codes has been considered – Bar & Rod (HS Code 7213 & 7214), MS Wire (HS Code 7217) along with Angle & Shapes (HS Code 7215 & 7216).

During Q3’18, the largest importer of Indian Finish Long Steel was Nepal – 87,897 MT up by 13% against 77,756 MT in Q3’17 , Myanmar at 10,847 MT down by 70% against 35,839 MT in Q3’17, Hong Kong at 49,814 MT down by 54% against 107,815 MT in Q3’17 and Singapore at 50,651 MT down by 16% against 60,237 MT in Q3’17.
