As per the latest data released by the customs, India’s finish-flat imports stood at 0.37 MnT in Jan’20 fell by 5% on a monthly premise as against 0.39 MnT in Dec’19.
Increase global steel prices in the month of Jan’20 resulted to lower import bookings. Thus, competitive domestic prices kept importers away from making any fresh bookings. Also, major Indian steel mills raised domestic HRC prices twice a month on restocking demand in the domestic market.
Meanwhile, on a yearly premise, the same slashed by 31% in Jan’20 in contrast with 0.54 MnT in Jan’ 19.
Indian HRC/Plates imports up by 7% in Jan ’20- The nation’s HRC/Plates witnessed a rise by 7% M-o-M basis to 0.15 MnT in Jan’20 when compared with 0.14 MnT a month ago.
Indian electrical steel imports plunged by 20% M-o-M basis to 0.12 MnT in Jan’20 over 0.15 MnT in Dec’ 19.
The galvanized steel imports were consistent at 0.08 MnT in Jan’20 over Dec’ 19.
Meanwhile, imports of CRC remained unchanged at 0.02 MnT in Jan’20 as against Dec’ 19.
Imports from South Korea ascends by 10% in Jan ’20- The nation’s imports from South Korea ascended by 10% M-o-M basis to 0.22 MnT in Jan’20 over 0.20 MnT in the previous month.
India’s finish-flat steel imports from China slashed by 22% to 0.07 MnT in Jan’20 as compared with 0.09 MnT in Dec’ 19.
However, imports from Japan tumbled by 20 % M-o-M basis to 0.04 MnT in Jan’20, which was 0.05 MnT in the preceding month.
Imports at Mumbai port down by 8% in Jan ’20- Finish-flat steel imports at Mumbai port declined by 8% to 0.12 MnT in Jan’20 over 0.13 MnT in Dec ’19.
Imports at the Chennai were consistent at 0.06 MnT in Jan’20 in line with Dec’ 19.
Meanwhile, imports at Kandla port surged to 0.06 MnT in Jan’20 from 0.04 MnT in the preceding month.
Also, imports at Mundra port stood at 0.05 MnT which stood at 0.11 MnT in previous year. Meanwhile in JNPT port at 0.03 MnT, and Dahej at 0.01 MnT in Jan ’20.
