Indian Ferrous Scrap Import increased by 7% in Oct 2016

As per the recent data maintained by SteelMint, the ferrous scrap imports by India during the month of Oct’16 increased by 7% over the previous month.

The country’s total scrap imports during Oct’16 amounted to 291,000 MT. The imports were increased by 7% as compared to Sep’16, which were recorded at 271,000 MT. Indian Scrap Imports for a period of Jan-Oct’16 totaled 4,575,000 MT.

During Oct’16, UAE was the largest scrap exporter to India. The scrap imports from UAE totaled 58,516 MT, accounting for more than 20% of the country’s total scrap imports.

The second largest exporter of scrap to India was the UK. The scrap imports by the country from the UK totaled 50,025 MT. In third place was USA with supply volume of 32,581 tons.
