Indian primary mills are planning to raise the list price of ERW (Electric resistance welding) pipes for the third time in Aug’20, which will be effective from 21st Aug, on the back of higher HRC prices.
As per the assessment, the base grades of pipe prices will be around INR 44,500/t, delivered Maharashtra, after the hike.
A leading Raipur-based ERW pipe maker APL Apollo is planning to increase offer prices from INR 41,500/t to INR 42,750/t .
Increase in HRC prices over the past week by INR 500-1,000/t on tight supply and restocking demand in the domestic market are primary causes of increase in pipe prices.
“Fewer tonnes of imported coil are entering India, which has caused an input shortage for pipe mills,” said a pipe distributor from Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, grades of Patra based pipe prices have reduced by INR 800-1,000/t in the last 2-3 days on account of slow offtake though buyers may be hesitant to accept even the reduced prices.
Current offers for secondary ERW pipe mills are reported at INR 36,000-36,100/t exw Raipur (Chhattisgarh), INR 38,800/t ex-Mandi Gobindgarh & INR 36,000/t ex-Rourkela (Odisha), excluding 18% GST.
