Indian DRI (Sponge iron) export increased by 29.17% during Jul’16 against Jun’16. Sponge iron export was 34,292 MT in Jul’16, which was 26,548 MT in the month of Jun’16.
Total DRI exports during Jan-Jul’16 was at approx 95,000 MT, out of which 95% exported to Bangladesh. It includes JSW Steel, 14,000MT HBI (gas based) from its Dolvi plant. Sources confirmed that average price of HBI deal was USD 200-210/MT, FoB.
According to customs data, about 33,548 MT sponge iron (including HBI) has been exported to Bangladesh in Jul’16, which is much higher than the previous month.
