Indian DRI, billet, rebar update – 11 Jun

  • Sponge iron prices decrease by INR 50-200/t d-o-d across markets
  • Buyers focus on procurement to meet immediate requirements

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel prices declined d-o-d across regions on 11 June 2026.

Sponge iron prices decreased by INR 50-200/t d-o-d in most markets. In contrast, Hyderabad witnessed an increase of INR 200/t, with prices settling at INR 26,200/t.

Billet prices witnessed a downward trend across locations, declining by INR 50-300/t d-o-d. The steepest correction was observed in Raigarh, where prices dropped by INR 300/t to INR 38,400/t.

Rebar (Fe 500) prices softened by INR 50-550/t d-o-d in most markets, while Mandi Gobindgarh recorded a slight uptick of INR 100/t, where prices stood at INR 47,900/t.

Trading activity remained subdued d-o-d, with very limited transactions reported in the finished steel segment. Prices fell as buying interest remained limited and buyers continued to procure material only as per immediate requirements. Prices are likely to fluctuate within a narrow range over the next couple of days, depending on trade momentum.

The conversion spread from sponge iron (PDRI) to billets for the standalone induction furnaces in the Raipur cluster was assessed at INR 14,700/t.
