Indian DRI, billet, rebar update – 11 Feb

  • Buying enquiries was slow as witnessed
  • Minimal trades were concluded today

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel prices decreased d-o-d on 11 February 2025. Mills dropped their offers by INR 50-500/tonne (t) across markets, compared to the previous trading session.

Sponge iron prices fell by INR 50-300/t d-o-d and the major fall was seen in the Durgapur market.

Billet tags decreased by INR 50-300/t d-o-d with the steepest fall seen in Durgapur and Hyderabad by INR 300/t except in Jalna market where price inch up by INR 100/t.

Rebar (Fe 500) offers fluctuated by INR 100-500/t d-o-d, with the sharpest rise recorded in the Delhi cluster and fall in Hyderabad by INR 300/t.

Today, lack of buying enquiries was spotted in the market. Mills were trying to push the prices on the higher side but minimal transactions were observed at current price levels varied location-wise. However, lifting of previously booked material in most locations was smooth. Prices are likely to remain range-bound in the near term.
