Indian DRI, billet and re-bar update – 5 Jul

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel market witnessed mixed price trends, while offers across mills varied in the range of INR 50-500/tonne d-o-d, on 5 July, 2022.

Sponge iron and billet prices moved in the range of INR 50-300/t. Prices declined by INR 500/t in Hyderabad and Chennai’s billet market (southern India).

Also, rebar (Fe 500) offers varied in the range of INR 100-500/t across regions. Prices fell in the Delhi/NCR market by INR 500/t, however, on the other side a hike of INR 500/t was noticed in Raigarh’s market.

Moderate finished steel sales and volatile steel prices in the northern region of Punjab, remained the major factors behind the fluctuating semis offers across regions. However, higher coal prices did not bring about any major price corrections.
