Indian DRI, billet and re-bar update – 20 May

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel market witnessed an upward price trend while offers from the medium-sized mills increased by up to INR 800/tonne d-o-d, on 20 May.

Sponge iron and billets prices rose in the range of INR 100-600/t following a INR 600/t increase in Durgapur sponge iron prices.

Also, rebar (Fe 500) offers were up in the range of INR 200-800/t across regions. Prices surged by INR 800/t in Muzzaffarnagar’s market.

Semi-finished prices witnessed a positive trend while finished steel prices remained stable. Higher coal prices are keeping the market volatile.
