Indian DRI, billet and re-bar update -16 Dec

India’s induction furnace-steel market noticed mixed price trends, and offers varied in the range of INR 100-800/tonne (t) d-o-d on 16 December, 2022.

Sponge iron prices fluctuated in the range of INR 100-400/t. A major price hike of INR 400/t was observed in Jharsugda market.

Moreover, billets offers increased in the range of INR 100-650/t. The major price rice of INR 650/t was seen in central regions Raigarh billets market.

In addition, rebars (Fe 500) prices fluctuated in the range of INR 100-800/t across the regions. Prices fell by INR 400/t in Mandi, Gobindagarh. However, a price rise of INR 800/t was noticed in Raipur market.

An active demand in finished steel products was reported in central and eastern India but at lower (firm) offers. In contrast, in other locations, it has remained moderate. Hence, prices remained on the lower side, especially of rebars in west and northern parts, SteelMint noted.
