Indian DRI, billet and re-bar update – 13 May

India’s induction furnace (IF) steel market witnessed mixed price trends, while offers from the medium-sized mills varied in the range of INR 50-500/tonne (t) d-o-d, on 13 May, 2022.

Sponge iron and billet prices fluctuated in the range of INR 50-500/t, following a decline of INR 500/t in Durgapur’s billet market.

Moreover, rebar (Fe 500) offers declined up to INR 500/t across regions. Prices also decreased in the Durgapur market with INR 500/t.

Overall, semi-finished steel prices fluctuated today while no change was observed in the finished steel products market. A few sellers decreased offers amid limited enquires from buyers, especially in the north-east region.
