Indian DRI, billet and re-bar update – 06 Jan

The domestic induction furnace (IF) steel market witnessed mixed trends on 6 Jan’22. Steel prices of the mid-sized mills fluctuated in the range of INR 100-500/tonne (t) d-o-d.

Sponge iron and billet prices varied in the range of INR 100-500/t across locations in the country. However, the billet market observed a sharp fall of INR 500/t in Hyderabad and Chennai, while offers increased by INR 450/t in Raigarh.

Re-bar (Fe 500 grade) offers decreased by INR 100-500/t in many regions. On the other hand, a hike of INR 200-400/t was seen in Raipur and Raigarh in central India.

The pan-India market remained dull due to lack of finished steel sales. However, in central India sellers tried to bolster the market by raising offers.
